Transnet Internship Programme; Transnet is offering Internships Programme for the academic year 2023 in the following areas: Parktown/Johannesburg, Kimberley, Saldana, Braamfontein, Bellville & Durban, Ermelo, Ogies, Witbank, Nelspruit, Phalaborwa, Komatipoort, Richards Bay, Bloemfontein, Isando, Sentrarand, Pretoria, Natalspruit, De Aar & Durban. This is a 24 monthly long internship programme and the interns will receive monthly stipends during their placement. Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35 to qualify.

Transnet delivers internationally as well as nationally.  It is a state-owned entity, owned in totality by the South African Government.  It is seen as the custodian of pipelines, railways as well as ports.  They aid in the growth of the economy, while also providing healthy competitiveness.  They deliver trustworthy freight and transport services to all sectors, satisfying customer needs.

Transnet Internship Programme Requirements

Applications are accepted yearly for a variety of internships to fill openings that rise within Transnet.  Grade 12 learners, those studying further as well as Graduates are all welcome to apply, within their fields of openings.

Candidates will also be required to have the following:

  • Candidates must hold a valid Matric certificate
  • Must have a level 5 for Physical Science
  • Must have a level 5 for Mathematics
  • Candidates must be a South African citizen
  • Candidates must hold a valid ID book/card
  • Candidates must pass a fitness evaluation
  • Candidates must pass a medical examination
  • Candidates must pass a Psychometrical test
  • Candidates with a degree or diploma within the selected discipline
  • Candidates must be MS as well as computer literate
  • Must be proficient in English (read, write & speak)
  • Candidates must not hold any kind of criminal record

The closing dates for internships differ, depending on the current need within Transnet.

Most open with the start of each year, however, closing dates can be from March to September.  They also have some open in the middle of the year and close the following year in January.

Thus it is highly recommended to make regular checks on their website for such openings.  Please note that if you have not had any correspondence within 30 days of the closing date, your application was unsuccessful.

Transnet receives a vast amount of applications each year, consequently, they cannot respond to all, but only those who have qualified.
