Junior House Mother – High School
Date of commencement – 1 January 2022

This live in, full-time position will report to the Head of Boarding and to the Senior House Mother of Grade 8 – 11 Boarding House and carry the following responsibilities:

• To assist in acting loco parentis to all girls who will be accommodated in the boarding house
• To help enforce the daily routine of the boarders, taking into account their academic, sporting, cultural and spiritual development
• To provide (together with the Head of Boarding and Senior House Mother) pastoral care for the boarders which would include a proper and holistic reporting system and mentorship
• To assist in mentoring Interns, Boarding Assistants and other Boarding Staff, which would include weekend duties
• Travelling with boarders on outings when required
• Have experience in working with adolescent girls
• Be compassionate and have exceptional people skills.
• Have a nurturing approach yet able to maintain and enforce discipline in the boarding house which will result in the boarders reaching their full potential
• Display characteristics of tenacity, responsibility, organisation and ethical behaviour
• Having a driver’s licence and own vehicle is advantageous but not essential
• Appreciate working in a values-driven, Christian environment
• Be able to uphold the ethos and values of the school.

Candidates should be able to set boundaries, have exceptional interpersonal skills and a passion for the development of adolescents together with empathy in dealing with staff, parents and pupils.

Candidates should be team players and be able to communicate effectively, together with a sound knowledge of IT skills to work efficiently. Previous experience working in a boarding establishment would be advantageous.
