ABOUT THE COMPANY – HAW & INGLIS

Haw & Inglis, formed in 1984, is a South African construction company based in the Western Cape, which operates across the country. The companies specialty lies in large, complex construction projects, specifically building construction, road construction, road rehabilitation and infrastructure. H&I is currently a BBBEE Level 2 Contributor as of 2010.

H&I International, a UK business, was recently established based on the same high standards as South Africa’s Haw & Inglis Group. The companies services/ activities include: Mining; Water Supply & Waste; Commercial & Residential Property; Transport (Aviation, Marine, Road and Rail); Renewable Energy; Healthcare and Leisure & Hospitality.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Each year, Haw & Inglis award bursaries to deserving students within the Civil/ Building industry. Bursaries will be awarded based on academic merit and whether applicants meet University/ University of Technology requirements.

H&I bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:

  • Building
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Currently in Matric OR have completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying towards one of the aforementioned Undergraduate qualifications
  • Studying or intend on studying at a recognised accredited South African tertiary institute
  • Current Matric students: must achieve a minimum “C” symbol or 60% for Mathematics and Physical Science on your Matric certificate
  • Current tertiary students: have a good academic record AND have passed all previous subjects/ modules

Applicants must also possess the following personal attributes:

  • Love the outdoors
  • Willing and able to work in rural areas
  • Interested in the building construction and civil industry
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Take initiative

Students currently in Matric:

  • ID Document (certified copy)
  • Colour ID Photo (to be attached to the application form)
  • Learners or Drivers license, if applicable (certified copy)
  • Grade 11 final results (certified copy)
  • Matric June & September results (certified copies)
  • Matric final results, if available (certified copy)

Students currently at University / University of Technology:

  • ID Document (certified copy)
