First Rand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship 2019 – 2020
This fund aids exceptional students from South Africa to complete their postgraduate studies abroad in any country and any field. Scholarships are for a maximum period of two years and to the value of R400 000 per year to cover tuition, books, accommodation, meals and other relevant needs.
First Rand Laurie Dippenaar Bursaries Available
This Scholarship program has bursaries available in all fields of study and these studies are for any International Recognized University in any other country outside of South Africa. First Rand Laurie Dippenaar Bursaries Requirements
To be selected candidates has to prove excellence in all study fields academically as well as show leadership qualities, strength in their character, involvement in their communities and a great potential to becoming a destiny maker not only for him/herself but all those around them.
Although there is no set age restriction candidates under 35 will receive preference.
Candidates who have or are currently studying abroad will be excluded from selection.
Successful candidates have to return home to South Africa, work and stay in South Africa for a minimum period of five years after completing their studies.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of senior staff including Chairman Laurie Dippenaar himself and a long list of 30 candidates will be chosen. These 30 candidates will be interview either in person or telephonically and if needed the panel would also enquire from specialists, their opinions about candidates. The shortened list will compromise of only ten candidates who will then be required to attend a final interview in Sandton. The selected candidates will be notified before the end of May that year.

Bursaries online applications cannot be made but the form can, however, be downloaded and emailed to: firstrandpgscholarship@firstrand.co.za for the attention of Beth van Heerden. Your reference letters can also be mailed to this e-mail as long as they are clearly marked. For application forms, candidates can use the link, although bursary forms will only become available in November.

The following documentation will need to accompany your application:
- A Certified copy of your ID Book / Card
- A personal statement written by you about you and please indicate the word count.
- A certified copy of your Matric final results.
- A certified copy of your Degree or Course Certificates.
- Your current or most recent Academic Transcripts
- A letter of acceptance from the University you wish to attend.
- A clear and recent Photograph of yourself.
First Rand Laurie Dippenaar Bursaries Closing Date
Applications will be open from middle December each year and close the end of February but applications can be acquired from November.
Be sure to include all the relevant documentation and that your application is completed fully. Additionally, try not to send a personal statement that is longer than a 1000 words but does clarify why you feel you are the best candidate for the Scholarship. Enlighten the panel to what it is that sets you above the rest and why you feel you can change destiny. Moreover, inform the board of how you will be able to make a positive impact in South Africa that could change the future with the Scholarship. Please also indicate your reason for choosing your field of study and the selected University for study. Also, include your career plans in addition to your life plans upon completion of your studies.
