500x Trainees (Contract Posts)
The Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works, through the ambit of Expanded Public Works Programme, intends to contract 500 young people (aged 18 – 35 years) to be part of the National Youth Service implementation programme for 18 months. Selected youths will be expected to attend a training programme on maintenance of buildings and roads and capturing of data on the Amathuba portal and on completion of the programme, they will maintain government buildings such as schools, clinics and offices.
Requirements:
- A minimum of Grade 11 for Roads Maintenance is required. Centres: Cacadu region, Amathola Region, Chris Hani & Joe Gqabi Region, OR Tambo and Alfred Nzo (x60 posts);
- A minimum of Grade 12 & a valid driver’s license(C) for Roads mechanical. Centres: Cacadu Region, Amathola Region, Chris Hani & Joe Gqabi Region, OR Tambo and Alfred Nzo) (x60)
- A minimum of Grade 10 for In-House Teams is required. Centres: OR Tambo – Coffee Bay & Elliotdale (x20);
- A minimum of Grade 10 for In-House Teams is required. Centres: Chris Hani Region – Cofimvaba & Lady Frere (x2);
- A minimum of Grade 10 for In-House Teams is required. Centres: Amathola Region – Stutterheim (x1);
- A minimum of Grade 12 & Computer skills for EPWP. Centres: Cacadu Region, Amathola, Chris Hani & Joe Gqabi, OR Tambo & Alfred Nzo (x200);
- A minimum of Grade 12 for Buildings. Centres: Cacadu, Amathola, Chris Hani & Joe Gqabi, OR Tambo & Alfred Nzo Regions (x155).
Those who may not meet the requirements but can read and write and have proven expertise in the built environment will be considered.
NOTE: Designated groups will be given preference.
