Cape Mental Health: Easy-to-Read Project Coordinator Position: Innovation and Training Department ITD Vacancy In South Africa
Cape Mental Health (CMH), a non-profit organisation that offers comprehensive mental health services in the Western Cape, seeks to employ a highly motivated and dynamic professional as an Easy-to-Read Project Coordinator to coordinate the Easy-to-Read Project, working closely with partners and with persons with intellectual disability.
Duration: 12-Month Contract Position (20 hours per week)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating the Easy-to-Read (ETR) project by working closely with the ITD Manager in planning, performing and monitoring the roll out of the project deliverables
- Adhering strictly to reporting and deliverable deadlines for the ITD Manager and the funder/s
- Writing documents using the ETR methods and standards
- Consulting with the Proof Reading Team comprising persons with intellectual disability in order to write and finalise all ETR documents
- Expand on and further develop the ETR Image Dictionary Design and facilitate training workshops / presentations, in-person or online, for key role-players internally and externally on the Easy-to-Read methodology and principles
- Be willing and able to travel nationally should this be required
- To market the CMH ETR Document Writing service
- Coordinate advocacy campaigns for the right of persons with intellectual disability to access information through ETR with self-advocates with intellectual disability
- Further develop the ETR Project at CMH, including researching new opportunities
- Various administrative tasks as required
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in allied health or social sciences
- Comprehensive knowledge on intellectual disability
- Appropriate experience working with persons with intellectual disability, especially from an advocacy perspective
- Appropriate experience in the design and facilitation of training for service providers working within the intellectual disability sector
- Excellent group and training workshop facilitation skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English
- Proven proficiency and skill in the use of Microsoft (MS) Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
- Excellent organisational, administrative and planning skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to work within a team environment, display excellent interpersonal skills and communicate effectively
- Valid Code B (former code 8) manual drivers licence
- Report for work at the office in Observatory whenever required
