Benue Govt Makes Clarification on Four Arrested Persons
The Benue State government has described as a case of ‘mistaken identity’, the arrest of four persons with COVID-19 dead corpse in the State.
According to the DAILY POST, it was reported that the State intercepted a dead COVID-19 corpse on the way to burial.
The Benue State Action Committee on COVID-19 had identified the corpse as Peter Aiv Kogi who died of coronavirus in Kano State.
But in a statement by Governor Samuel Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, he said although Peter Kogi also died of Coronavirus in Kano and his family were making arrangements to take him to Konshisha for burial, the actual corpse which was intercepted at Jato near Aliade was that of one Shangevlumun Gbaeren.
Akase said, “Mr Gbaeren coincidentally died of Coronavirus in Kano and was being taken to Gboko via the same route where the remains of Mr Kogi was expected to pass.
“The identity of the late man was confirmed this morning through his family by the COVID-19 Response Team.”
