AVI LIMITED owns many of South Africa’s well known and loved brands which expand over numerous categories. The company savoury and sweet biscuits and snacks include Provita; Jumping Jack; Bakers; Baumann’s; Pyotts and Willards, while their hot beverages range includes Five Roses; Ellis Brown; Koffiehuis; Frisco; Freshpak; Douwe Egberts; House of Coffees; Lavazza; Ciro and Cafitesse.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME

The AVI Limited Bursary, administered by the StudyTrust, are awarding bursaries to full-time students within the Engineering, Commerce and Food Technology fields. These are full cost bursaries, which will cover all study-related expenses.

The AVI Bursary Programme also provide their bursars with vacation work opportunities, as well as graduate development positions to students who have successfully graduated.
Bursaries will be awarded within 2 categories:
Degree studies:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Commerce (Marketing and Finance)

Diploma studies (National Diploma or B Tech):

  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Food Technology

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Strong academic merit
  • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
  • Studying or intending on studying full time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Proven financial need
  • Commerce and Engineering degree studies:
    • Achieved a degree endorsement on their NSC certificate
    • Achieved a minimum result of 60%/ C symbol/ level 5 for Mathematics and English FAL
    • Studying or intending on studying at one of the following institutions: the University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, University of the Witwatersrand, University of KwaZulu-Natal
  • Engineering and Food Technology diploma studies:
    • Achieved a diploma endorsement on their NSC certificate
    • Achieved a minimum result of 50%/ D symbol/ level 4 for Mathematics, Physical Science and English FAL
    • Studying or intending on studying at one of the following institutions: the University of Johannesburg, Vaal University of Technology, Tshwane University of Technology, Durban University of Technology

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with the application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy of)
  • Matric June results, if currently in Matric (certified copy of)
  • Matric certificate/ results, if completed Matric (certified copy of)
  • Complete tertiary academic record, if at tertiary level (certified copy of)
  • Proof of admission/ provisional admission to the institution you applied at, if not currently at tertiary level
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Essay about your life (to be completed on the application form)
  • 2 testimonials (1 from an educational official and 1 from a community or spiritual leader – to be completed on the application form)
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income:
    • if unemployed: sworn affidavits
    • if employed: latest payslips (certified copies of)
    • if self-employed: sworn affidavit declaring monthly income or latest audited financial statements (certified copies of)
    • if deceased: death certificate or a sworn affidavit (certified copies of)
    • if residing with your guardian while parents are alive: guardians latest payslips (certified copies of)
    • if parents are divorced: divorce certificate (certified copy of)
    • if parents are separated: a sworn statement from one parent confirming separation
